Brief History

Welcome to the website of Shree Swaminarayan Temple - Houston, TX (International Swaminarayan Satsang Organization).

This temple's history lies in that auspicious moment when, under the spiritual leadership of His Holiness Acharya 1008 Shree Tejendraprasadji Maharaj, the International Swaminarayan Satsang Organization came to birth in 1978. Since then the Swaminarayan faith has seen an momentous flourish with temples springing up in vast number of cities and countries worldwide.

Houston, TX has been one of the fortunate cities where members of the faith, in the past, congregated at individual's homes and in 1999 were blessed with the opportunity to build a Shikhar-bandh Swaminarayan Temple in Houston, TX in the Sugar Land area. Today, the Temple is a spritual foundation for not only its members, but all Hindus in the region. Twice-daily Aarti and weekly satsang sabhas and discourses continue to provide spiritual invigoration and infusion to the souls of many.

In 2006 ISSO's sister organization ISSO - Seva began providing free medical services to the community, with a permanent clinic in the temple. The clinic proudly strives to provide medical services to people of all race, religion, creed, and color, under the authority of a variety of medical professionals, at no cost.

We welcome you to our temple. Jay Shree Swaminarayan.
